§ All members should bow to the instructor when entering and leaving the dojo.
§ All members will bow when coming onto and leaving the dojo floor.
§ "OSS" is a sign of respect used in many situations such us: Upon receiving any advice/command from Instructors; When bowing to your partner/s before and after Kumite; When bowing at the start/finish of any class; In any other appropriate situation (i.e. during grading /competitions)
§ Any member arriving late, MUST take-up a kneeling position where the Instructor can see you and await for permission to join the class (then bow and join)
§ NO ONE should leave the Dojo without first asking permission from the instructor
§ Keep your fingernails and toenails short at all times.
§ All karate-ka must wear a clean white karate-gi (no rips, holes or tears) and a karate belt of grade tied securely around the waist at all times.
§ Do not wear rings, jewelry or any other metal ornaments during the training
§ Do not criticize other karate-ka
§ Higher belts should aid lower belts in their training. Lower belts should follow the instructions of higher belts in the dojo.
§ There will be no sparring without the express permission of the Sensei
§ STUDENTS WILL NEVER TEACH OTHERS WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED IN CLASS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION AND APPROVAL OF THE TEACHER OR INSTRUCTORS
§ Always inform the instructor or teacher when you will be taking a leave of absence
§ Absolutely no shoes in the dojo area
§ Sparring:
§ No sparring unless instructed by an adult black belt.
§ Safety gear must be worn at all times. This includes head gear, mouth guard, and hand, foot, and shin pads. Foul cups are mandatory for all male students. Chest protectors are encouraged during sparring.
§ Light contact only. No contact to the face, throat, spine or groan.
§ There will be no take downs and throws allowed during the sparring.
§ Blind, swinging techniques will not be allowed during sparring.
